Jesus Prayer at Gethsemane

This photo was taken at Kawa Kawa park, Ligao city, Philippines. This is a hill top park, full of trees, and stature depictions of Jesus last days on earth. It started at the last supper, Jesus praying at Gethsemane (which is this photo), him carrying the cross, and till he was crucified. I was not able to take all the photos, as it was a bit of a physical exercise on that park as it was always climbing, I think we didn’t even reach the top. However the park was nice, a nice seldom to be in a nature park with these features.

Going back to this photo, this account can be found in the Bible in Matthew 26: 36-46. In here the Lord Jesus prayed as he knows he will be crucified. He prayed to the Father that if it be possible that this cup will be pass from him. As the punishment of sin of the whole world will be passed to him. In this account he was with Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and all of them Jesus found them sleeping. Jesus prayed three times and his disciples was just sleeping.

In reflection, how often do we pray? How often do we seek God? And how often do we accept God’s will in our lives? Jesus prayed that this would pass from him, but he accepted God’s will, and because of that salvation is now open for those who will believe in Jesus Christ. I hope this will remind us of Jesus Christ sacrifice, and will encourage us to pray more often to him.
